Exmore’s advantageous location in the heart of the ESVA peninsula ensures easy access to the entire shore, as well as to major cities north and south, for your enterprise. The Town is bisected by U.S. Route 13, the major artery connecting north and south with prime commercial and light industrial properties on both sides. 

Businesses currently bordering Rt. 13 in Exmore include a shopping strip anchored by Food Lion and Ace Hardware; two national QSR brands plus several independent restaurants; Royal Farms, Walgreens; two Dollar Stores and three national hotel chains.

Although compact in area---just over two square miles---Exmore’s reputation as a business-friendly service town, a history of resiliency, coupled with a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, continue to stimulate growth. Today, Exmore ranks as the largest town in Northampton County and the 117th largest municipality in Virginia.

Business Licenses

Fees for a business licence are $30 a year. To encourage new businesses in the community, start-up businesses receive a two-year reprieve.
